Introduction to PLX Devices
CONNECTION DIAGRAM:
1.
3.3V from SM - Connects to the SM-AIT module's 3.3V output. This is where the DM-5 gets it's power.
2.
Serial RX - Digital Serial input from iMFD chain
3.
Serial TX Digital Serial output to remaining iMFD chain
*No ground connection is necessary. Ground obtained from Serial RX, TX
There are two recommended uses for the DM-5. The simple setup connects to just one SM module. This is great for stand alone gauges.
The full setup is great for monitoring several SM modules simultaneously. Looking at the above diagram.
The DM-5 AIT labeled (1) automatically displays the information from SM-AIT labeled (4). The DM-5 AIT labeled (2) automatically displays the information from SM-AIT labeled (5). The DM-5 AIT labeled (3) automatically displays the information from SM-AIT labeled (6) and so on.... The DM-5 automatically "knows" where to look for the information with respect to where it is connected in the iMFD chain.
